Currently the Institute is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and competent Tanzanian to fill the following job vacant position:
Job Vacancy: Field Assistant
Duty Station: Gombe National Park, Kigoma
Job summary:
To ensure collection of field data related with long-term study of chimpanzee continue well as planned at field sites of Gombe National Park.
Key Job Responsibilities & Duties:
Main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to:
- Carry out data collection (B Record) of Chimpanzees while ensuring the collected data is accurate at all times.
- Actively learn the identity of all chimpanzees, plants and their habitat.
- Collect fecal samples as directed by your supervisor.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and use required technological devices i.e. GPS, Tablet, and always in good working condition.
- Provide support to Research Students when required.
- Maintain good relationship with TANAPA Staff, Community and Co-workers.
- Carry out any other work as required by the Director of Research.
Minimum Job Qualifications and other Requirements:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in wildlife management, animal sciences, biology or any other related field from a reputable university / college
- At least three years of working experience in the field of primate or wildlife research
- Experience in report writing and a good team player
- Competence in basic computer applications (Ms word and excel)
- Fluent in both English and Swahili languages
- Ready to live and work in the remote areas and work in the field
